Universal launches monoX label in Vietnam with media company METUB

Vietnam-based media company METUB and Universal Music Group have launched a new label, called monoX.

The two companies announced the new venture at a press conference held in Ho Chi Minh City this week.

The launch of monoX comes two years after UMG opened an office in Ho Chi Minh, which marked the official arrival of Universal Music Vietnam (UMV).

Universal says monoX “will serve as a crucial pivot between research, development, and bringing new Vietnamese artists into the limelight.”

monoX is led by CEO Kendall Nguyen.

METUB claims to be the “first designer economy platform in Vietnam”.

The company says its “METUB network” currently generates 7 billion views per month on YouTube and partners with top artists and creators in Vietnam.

At the launch event, monoX introduced its first signer as Wren Evans.

According to the label, Wren Evans’ first single Thich Em Hoi Nhieu (I Love You Very Much) garnered over 10 million views in less than 10 days after its release.

His YouTube channel has over 110,000 subscribers. His latest single Con Dau (Pain) was released three weeks ago and is taken from their debut album, which will be released later this month via monoX/Universal Music Vietnam.

At the event, monoX also showcased its two latest artist signings as Evy and Daisy.
